Autobiography
My name is Joey. I am a junior year student in National
Chung Cheng University, studying in the Department of
Foreign Languages and Literature. I am a Malaysian.
When I decided to further study in Taiwan, most people
were questioning that I wanted to learn English in Taiwan.
In fact, I had been eager to come to Taiwan since I was 13
years old, and I know that I was always better in language
subjects than math and even business study. This is why I
am here. For me, living overseas alone is the biggest
challenge at the age of 19.
Single life without family in Taiwan allowed me a lot of
free time. I can schedule my time wisely. My mother
couldn't ask me to work or to do anything when I was
doing my own work. She won’t wake me up at seven but
tell me that it is ten. I can accurately allocate every hour
of mine, and even every minute.
I always enjoy my life in Taiwan. I usually have part time
jobs in the undergraduate students dormitory center and
the center of general education. In the winter or summer
vacation, I would get another job in the office of
international affairs. However, I don’t spend all my time
on making money. I had attended the overseas Chinese
student association in school, spent my time learning
different skills like how to deal with different people, solve
different difficulties and hold different activities or events.
Recently, I attended two more student organizations, one
is working for historical recap and another for Taiwan’s
long-term caring of old folks. In my opinion, practical
participation is more workable than sitting
down and studying on texts. It seems like I
spend too much time on extracurricular
things, but I actually still maintained my
schoolwork and have passed all the courses
for the last 2 academic years. I enjoyed
taking the interesting courses and
improving myself in different ways.
I like to have short trips during weekends
and holidays. When I was a freshman with
no motorcycle, I sometimes took the bus to Minxiong Township, Chiayi City and the other cities by myself for a walk. Basically, I seldom do research on the places before travelling, and enjoy having surprises in my journey. However, I became busier when I came to sophomore and junior year. I have plenty of time to go travelling. Even if I have plenty of time, I need to spend my time socializing with my friends and members in my club. Sincerely hope that I can quickly achieve my plan of travel around Taiwan which has been on my to-do list since I came to Taiwan.
I like Taiwan a lot, and always feel grateful that I am here. Along with the years past, people around me would like to ask whether I would go back to Malaysia after graduation or stay in Taiwan for work. My answer is, I am willing to go wherever for better development, no matter if it is Malaysia, Taiwan or any other countries. I will not stop challenging my life.
